project  4 words

my least favorite question is "tell me about yourself"

i wanted to make this question into something more fun & casual to answer

so, during my second year of undergrad i started asking people  —

describe yourself in 4 words

it can be a phrase, 4 separate words, literally anything

it's definitely hard to narrow yourself down to 4 words,

but i think it allows people to be creative & you're able to see their personality a little bit

a template of what i started in undergrad

i typically used it as a conversation starter & would just write it down in my notes app

i want to create something bigger for this little conversation starter....

so here we go! i'm bringing this to life by capturing photos of the people i interview

let's start!

KEREN, 22, CA

wildflowers, upset stomachs, & kozhusu (கால் கொலுசு)

"kozhusu, pronounced as kol-lu-cu, in tamil, means anklet! it's fun because every time i walk, there's a little jingle. which sounds like bells ringing. it's a constant reminder of where i come from and it makes me feel rooted."

JIWON, 22, LA

정 (jeong), sunflower, summer, 맑음 (mal-geum)

"home is in the people i love and spend time with."

SOOK LIN, 24, SINGAPORE

post bimbo, zha bo (查某)

"zha bo means girl in the hokkien dialect, but we use it in a more aggressive sense."

CAITLYN, 25, SEOUL

carrot, jellyfish, 행성 (haengseong), skin

"i have seven tattoos, most of them were done in korea."
